Lungu to address the nation

President-elect Edgar Lungu is expected to address the nation at 19:30 hours this evening. This is contained in a press statement released by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda.

Chanda disclosed that there are many issues which the Head of State would like to address, among them the need to maintain law and order during this critical period the Nation is going though.

“His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu will this evening at 19.30 address the Nation on both ZNBC Radio and TV, regarding matters affecting the Republic.
Among many issues the Head of State would like to address is the need to maintain law and order during this critical period the Nation is going though,” Chanda said.

“The President will elaborate on the concern raised by a crossection of society on the deployment of troops and Police in certain parts of the country to maintain law and order.
His Excellence will also allay fears of a perceived power vacuum that is allegedly to have arisen during the past few weeks and will call for the respect of the process of the Constitution court by all stake holders,” he explained.

Lungu’s election as his Republican President is under contention before the constitutional court.
