LUNGU ORDERS DMMU TO GIVE MARKETS MASKS

By Hector Simfukwe- President EDGAR LUNGU has directed the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- to ensure marketeers are given facemasks and other things needed to fight the Covid 19 pandemic.

President LUNGU has also assured traders in the country that he will not close the markets because of the Covid 19 pandemic.

He says some people have asked him to close the markets as a way of fighting Covid-19 but he has refused because most people depend on the markets for survival and will suffer if this happens.

President LUNGU however says the traders should help government by wearing facemasks and following the Covid-19 guidelines.

He said this when he visited Mtendere market where he donated health kits meant to fight the Covid 19 pandemic.

Among the donated items were facemasks and sanitizers.

The president personally distributed facemasks to traders as he engaged them on issues concerning their wellbeing.

Meanwhile President LUNGU has encouraged police officers to engage cadres at local level as a way of dealing with violence saying they know PF and UPND cadres who are violent in communities.

President LUNGU said this when he interacted with police officers at Mtendere police station.

And officer in charge CHRISTOPHER MUKE thanked government for building them a modern police station stating that it has motivated officers.

Mr. KABWE said the DMMU will ensure markets are given hand basins and facemasks among other things.
