Lungu ignores those calling for him to step down, goes for a holiday

President Elect, Edgar Chagwa Lungu has continuosly ignored the calls for him to step down and instead he has left to what he termed a working holiday’.

 

Some stakeholders and section of society has argued that Lungu must step down to pave way for Speaker Patrick Matibini to take over the running of the country citing Article 103 which talks about what happens to the incumbent if a petition is filed against his re-election.

 

Lungu who has left for Mfuwe, Eastern Province will be on  a three day Working Holiday.

 

Speaking to Journalists at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport today,  Lungu said he was going on a Working Holiday to Mfuwe to plan for the well being of the Country and reflect on Security Situation of the Nation.

 

The President said he was going on a working Holiday to also make his Cabinet.This is despite that his reelection is under contention before the courts of law.

 

The President is expected to return this weekend.
