LUKASHYA SET FOR POLLS

By Chiwanza Nachalwe- All is set for the by-election in Lukashya constituency slated for tomorrow.

Campaigns have so far been peaceful despite a few incidences of clashes between political parties.

Northern province Police Commissioner Richard Mweene says the situation on the ground is calm.

Mr. Mweene says police are on the ground to ensure elections go on peacefully.

He has however dispelled social media assertions that the UPND candidate in the Lukashya by election was arrested, describing the report as false.

And Mr. Mweene has disclosed that the five UPND cadres arrested yesterday for assault on PF youths are still detained and due to appear in court today.

He also disclosed that UPND deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka and two others may not appear in court today as the state advocate is in Lusaka.
