Lufwanyama hospital male ward on the verge of collapsing

Zanis-Lufwanyama District Hospital Male ward is on the verge of collapsing following serious cracks which have developed on the walls.

District Health Director JACOB NG’AMBI says the cracks on the building are due to poor workmanship by the contractor who has since disappeared after he was informed about the issue.

He says the matter has also been reported to the Provincial Infrastructure Engineers who recommended that the contractor be called back to re-do the works after the assessments were done.

Dr. NG’AMBI says this is because the building developed the cracks before the defect liability period elapsed.

Dr. NG’AMBI said this when Lufwanyama District Commissioner JUSTINE MWALIKWA visited the hospital.

Meanwhile Mr. MWALIKWA, who was accompaned by the district buildings officer, said there is need for immediate remedial works to be done on the affected building.

He observed that the current state of the building is nothing but a trap for human life.

Mr. MWALIKWA has since given the contractor a seven day ultimatum in which to go back and redo the works or risk being arrested and the company blacklisted.
