LIVINGSTONE RESORT WORKS HAILED

By Moombe Hamoboola:

Labour and Social Security Minister, Brenda Tambatamba says the construction of the four-star Mosi-Oa-Tunya Livingstone Resort is an indication that Zambia has the ability to invest in projects of international standards.

Speaking after touring the construction site in Livingstone, Ms. Tambatamba said the resort, on the banks of the Zambezi River, is a demonstration that Zambians can invest in high quality and sustainable projects.

The National Pension Scheme Authority -NAPSA- has invested almost One-hundred million United States Dollars in the project.

Ms. Tambatamba encouraged Zambians to join the NAPSA pension scheme which she said will not only secure and add value to their benefits but will contribute to economic growth of the through job creation.

She said when the number of contributors to the NAPSA pension scheme doubles, the authority will be able to build quality infrastructure across the country.

And Stefanutti Stocks Construction Contract Manager Eben De Wet said the continuous heavy rains being experienced in Livingstone have slowed down the works at the construction site.

Mr. De Wet however assured the Minister that the rains will not affect the schedule for the company to complete the construction of the resort in June this year, three months ahead of the contractual obligation due date.

He said in the next two weeks the construction company will hand over the first phase of the project to NAPSA.
