Fisheries and Livestock Minister Makozo Chikote has launched a 10.8 million dollar Project aimed at sustainable infrastructure management under the livestock sub sector.

The project is set to benefit 248 registered livestock groups and 33-thousand 6-hundred female headed households among others.

Mr. Chikote says the Project will create about 120 permanent jobs which will translate into 18-thousand seasonal jobs and 60-thousand indirect seasonal jobs.

He says this is in line with Government’s goal to transform the sector’s economic contribution into tangible results such as poverty eradication and wealth creation at household levels

Launching the project in Chipata, Mr. Chikote also called on the women and youth beneficiaries to join hands with Government in the quest of job creation.

Mr. Chikote said one of the Projects’ key areas of concentration is capacity building for farmers and extension workers.

The Sustainable Livestock Infrastructure Management Project is a five year project being implemented in Northern, Muchinga and Eastern Provinces.
