Lets work together to reunite country,HH asks chiefs

Tamara Muswala-President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on traditional leaders in the country to work with government in reuniting the country.

The President says chiefs and government are not in competition but compliment each other in serving the people of Zambia.

Mr. HICHILEMA says Chiefs and government are partners in unity in attending to challenges in the community.

The President was speaking when he graced the Ukusefya Pag’wena traditional ceremony of the bemba people of Kasama in Northern Province.

Mr. HICHILEMA says the new dawn administration will work with Chiefs without any segregation in the distribution of their allowances, building new palaces and procurement of vehicles.

And Mr. HICHILEMA says Government will not interfere in the selection of Chiefs in chiefdoms but encouraged chiefdoms to follow the family tree and avoid going to court.

He has encouraged the Mwinelubemba to work with government as it strives to address the challenges affecting the communities.

Speaking at the same ceremony, Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA said government is working hard to revive the Kasaba bay and unlock the northern tourism circuit.

Earlier, Northern Province Minister LEONARD MBAO thanked the Head of State for gracing the Ukusefya Pag’wena ceremony.

Meanwhile, Ukusefya Pag’wena Organizing Committee Chairperson FIDELIS KAPOKA applauded government for the massive recruitment of teachers and health workers.
