LETS FIGHT COVID -19 – LUO

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has donated an assortment of materials to the Ministry of Health in Nakonde district to assist in the fight against COVID-19.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Nkandu Luo says her ministry chose Nakonde as a recipient district because of the high wave of coronavirus that had hit the area.

Professor Luo has disclosed that 2-hundred thousand united states dollars was sourced from the African Development Bank under the COVID-19 relief package for Nakonde district to address the impact of the disease.

She says apart from the assorted medical and allied materials donated to Nakonde district hospital; her ministry has purchased livestock that will be distributed to all wards of Nakonde district.

Meanwhile, Professor Luo said while there is much talk about coronavirus in humans, her ministry is concerned with a possibility of COVID-19 in domestic animals.

And receiving the donation Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary in charge of Technical Services Kennedy Malama said the resurgence of COVID-19 has caused a lot of stress in the ministry.

Dr. Malama said the fight against the pandemic is not a single effort and called for collaboration and support from other ministries, institutions, businesses, non-governmental organizations and individuals.

He said the gesture by the Ministry of fisheries and livestock is timely and appreciated as the Ministry of Health braces itself for hard times to come.

Dr. Malama said this in a speech read on his behalf by Muchinga Province Health Director Chilembo Neroh .
