Let’s add value to our produce – Lungu

President Edgar Lungu has expressed concern that country is still exporting raw commodities 53 years  after independence.

Speaking when he Addressed farmers in Monze and the Zambia National Farmers Union the President noted the need to export processed  commodities saying exporting commodities in raw form was depriving the country off revenue and job creation.

He explained that government is currently working hard to make the manufacturing sector more buoyant to accelerate value addition.

He said government was pursuing a multi-pronged approach to encourage small holder farmers access finance to set up value addition schemes.

He said agriculture sector will be enhanced and the country will be able to supply primary products to the vast market of the Southern Africa Development Community region and beyond if it added value to its produce
