LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TOLD TO STEP UP FIGHT AGAINST CRIME

Ministry of Home Affairs Acting Permanent Secretary RONALD MISAPA has called on law enforcement agencies to step up their efforts in fighting transnational crimes to protect the country’s resources.

Mr. MISAPA says Government’s vision is to strive towards creating an environment free from transnational criminal organizations, terrorism and corruption.

He said this during the launch of the memorandum of understanding between the Zambia Police Service and Attorney General Alliance of the United States of America in Lusaka today.

Mr. MISAPA said the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties is aimed at enhancing strategic and collaborative partnerships to foster prosperity and security.

He said the partnership will enable the two institutions share legal and technical knowledge, technologies and equipment.

And Attorney General Alliance Africa Board Member MARKUS GREEN said the MOU was the 5th to be signed in Zambia since 2017.

Mr. GREEN said there is no doubt that the Zambian leadership is focused on reducing crime to create a safe and just society.

He said building the capacity of the police and other law enforcement officers is a core component as they have a critical role in the fight against organized crimes.

Meanwhile, Zambia Police Deputy Inspector General Administration DORIS CHIBOMBE said the bilateral cooperation will alleviate the current international conditions and challenges towards the fight against organized crime, terrorism and corruption.
