Laura Miti’s Civil Activists Denied Demo Permit
Police have advised Alliance for Community Action Executive Director Laura Miti not to proceed with her planned demonstration outside parliament on Friday.
Miti had written to the police to hold a demonstration to coincide with the presentation of the national budget on Friday by Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe.
However, police has written back to Miti advising her that the planned demonstration cannot take place because police would be preoccupied with providing security for the budget presentation.
According to the letter dated 25th September 2018. And signed by Lusaka Urban Commanding Officer a Mr Zimba, the protesters have been advised to pick a new date.
Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe is expected to present the 2019 National Budget.
