Lameck Banda places high premium on hard work

Serie A star Lameck Banda believes hard work is the most important thing for the Chipolopolo Boys ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Banda who was speaking on arrival in Saudi Arabia on Thursday afternoon said that he wants to work hard and replicate his brilliant club form.

The Lecce winger is eager to work with his Chipolopolo teammates and gel with them ahead of the continental showpiece.

“I Am very happy to join the camp. To join the guys, it’s very important for us. I Am looking forward to knowing and working with the other players as we heard of the tournament,” he said.

“The most important thing is working hard. What I do at club level I also have to bring to the national team.”

Banda says the team will take every game seriously and it does not matter who they are playing, they give it their best.

“To us it’s a fair group. Every game is important regardless of the opponent, be it Morocco or any other team. We are always ready to fight,” he said.

“They should keep supporting us as a team and follow the tournament,” he added.

Zambia will play Cameroon in an international friendly match on January 9 to help the technical bench gauge the progress made by the squad ahead of the tournament.

The Chipolopolo will play its opening match of the AFCON on January 17 against Congo before facing Tanzania four days later while the final Group F match will be against the Atlas Lions on January 24.
