Kundananji switches to Spanish feminina League with SD Eibar

Zambia Women’s National Team Striker Racheal Kundananji has joined Spanish top tier Primera Ibedrola side SD Eibar from Kazakhstan defending Champions BIIK-Kazgurt.

According to the official SD Eibar club website monitored by the ZamFoot Crew, Kundananji has penned a 2-year deal with the Spanish side that will see the former Indeni Roses striker at the Gunsmiths in the next two seasons.

Kundananji is expected to join her new team in the coming few days as she becomes the latest and fourth female Zambian Footballer to play in Spain after Barbara Banda who was on the books of EDF Logrono and the duo of Hellen Mubanga and Racheal Nachula who are with CFF Zaragoza in the second division of Spanish Women’s League.

Kundananji helped BIIK-Kazgurt to back-to-back Women’s National League Trophy in Kazakhstan and she won the Golden Boot last year as the club top goal scorer scoring 10 goals for the Shymkent based side.

She became the second Zambian Female Footballer after Misozi Zulu to score in a UEFA Women’s Champions League Match when BIIK-Kazgurt defeated Finish side Pallokerho-35 Vanta 4-1 on 14th August, 2019 with both Zulu and Kundananji scoring in the 23rd and 60th minute in the same match respectively.

The 21-year old has been a consistent feature for the Copper Queens since her debut on 4th April 2018 in the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifier match against Tanzania and she was exceptional assisting a goal as the match ended 3-3 with the Copper Queens qualifying to the 2018 AWCON based on the away goals rule.

In the same year 2018, Kundananji scored a remarkable hat-trick in a friendly match with the Black Stars of Ghana that was played at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium which ended 3-2 in favor of the Copper Queens who came from two goals down to win that particular match.

She went on to feature for the Copper Queens in the 2018 AWCON in Ghana scoring 3 goals in 3 appearances in the group stage.

She recently took part in the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan with the Copper Queens and scored one of the goals in a 4-4 thriller with China.

In total, Kundananji has scored 12 goals for the Copper Queens in 15 matches since 2018.
