Koffi Olomide no show at court

Koffi OlomideCongolese Rhumba maestro Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba popularly known as Koffi Olomide has again failed to appear before the Lusaka Magistrate Court in a matter he is charged with assault.

Mumba, who is alleged to have assaulted freelance journalist Jean Ndayisenga on December 28, 2012, was scheduled to take plea before Magistrate Naomi Sakala.

However, when the matter came up, Mumba’s representative Mark Mubalama also failed to turn up despite having sworn on Oath to bring him before Court on Thursday, 23rd August.

Magistrate Sakala has since ordered that Mubalama who is Mumba’s promoter presents himself before Court on the 21st September to explain why he has not brought his client before Court.

Magistrate Sakala adjourned the matter after the complainant’s lawyer Gilbert Phiri asked the Court to give Mubalama a benefit of doubt.

Mr. Phiri has argued that Mubalama’s absence in Court was inexcusable especially that he did not seek leave of the Court to miss the proceedings.

He has further contended that Mubalama’s actions also amount to a show of disrespect to the Court.
