“KK USED THE MEDIA AS A TOOL FOR DEVELOPMENT”

ZNBC Board Chairperson, JULIANA MWILA says Dr. KAUNDA will be remembered for defining the role of the media as a tool for National Development.

Ms. MWILA says this is why Dr. KAUNDA transformed Zambia Broadcasting Services from the government department under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services into a statutory board called Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation-ZNBC.

She says the founding father will also be remembered for promoting patriotism and national unity by ensuring that broadcasting platforms in Zambia represented both national unity and diversity.

Ms. MWILA says Dr. KAUNDA’s administration promoted local music by directing media houses to give priority to local music as opposed to foreign music.

She says throughout the period of National mourning ZNBC will ensure that its programming is adjusted in order to meet its obligation as a national broadcaster.
