KK DESCRIBED AS HIV/AIDS CHAMPION

By Fortune Malata

The National AIDS Council of Zambia-NAC- has described Dr. Kenneth Kaunda as a true champion and advocate in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Africa.

NAC Director General Connie Osbourne says despite the stigma and discrimination that surrounded the virus in his era, Dr. Kaunda publicly announced of his son’s status, who died from the illness.

Ms. Osbourne says the coming out of his grief turned into something tremendous and this saw some people try to come out and speak about the HIV and AIDS.

She says the founding father died serving as a member in a number of HIV and AIDS advocating organizations aimed at ensuring both children and adults living with HIV access quality treatment.
