Kenya Veep donates US$5000 to Kasisi Orphanage

Visiting Kenyan Vice President William Ruto has made huge donation to Kasisi Orphanage Foundation to help with the care of orphans. Ruto who came in the country to represent the Kenyan government at President Edgar Lungu’s inauguration, donated US$5000 when he visited the orphanage in the outskirts of Lusaka before his departure to Kenya.

Ruto described Kasisi orphanage as his second home and pledged to continue helping the center whenever possible.

And Ruto says Kenya just like Zambia faces the problem of Orphans and called on leaders to strive to ensure that Orphans are accorded a dignified life. Ruto donated US$20,000 when he visited the same orphanage in 2014.

The Kenyan Vice President has since urged the community, non-governmental organizations and the International community to come to the aid of Orphans and complement government efforts of looking after vulnerable children.

Meanwhile Ruto commended  Lungu for a “deserved” victory in the August 11 polls.

Ruto said President Lungu’s re-election demonstrates that he has what it takes to govern Zambia.

Speaking during a state dinner hosted by Lungu for foreign dignitaries, Ruto thanked Zambians for the peaceful elections as it has showed the world how Africa’s democracy has matured.

Ruto also saluted Africa’s founding fathers that include Kenneth Kaunda, Julius Nyerere, Jomo Kenyatta for liberating the continent from the shackles of colonisation and oppression.

He asked Lungu to lead Africa’s new generation of leaders to unify the continent and its people that were divided by colonialists.

Ruto said there is need for African Countries to cement trade ties and links through implementation of free trade areas.
