Katambo Warns Agriculture Officers on FISP Abuse

Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo has cautioned agricultural officers against engaging in malpractices during the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) input distribution exercise.Mr Katambo says extension officers and the district coordinating officers should desist from engaging in fraudulent activities and let the true beneficiaries receive what is due to them.Speaking when he checked on the fertilizer storage for Nyimba Investments Limited in Solwezi, Mr Katambo warned that the law will severely deal with all those who will be found wanting.And Mr Katambo said it is gratifying that farmers in the Province have already started depositing their 400 Kwacha contributions.And North-western Provincial Agricultural Coordinator Derrick Simukanzye said 62, 276 farmers will benefit from FISP in the province.Meanwhile, Nyimba Investment North-western Regional Coordinator Gideon Tembo says about 23, 000 Metric tons of fertilizer have already been delivered out of the required 23,000.
