KATAMBO CLEARS AIR

By ZANIS:Agriculture Minister Micheal Katambo has clarified that Kawambwa district in Luapula province has received its full allocation of maize seed and compound D fertiliser meant for the 2019/2020.Mr Katambo disclosed to ZANIS that the national supplier engaged by government to distribute farming inputs has delivered 100 percent maize seed and compound D fertiliser to the district.He revealed that Kawambwa was allocated 2 thousand 8- hundred and 40 metric tones of D compound and 125 metric tones of maize seed which have since been supplied.The Minister also highlighted that 90 percent of urea fertiliser has been distributed to the district.Mr Katambo revealed that out of 61 thousand 863 beneficiaries only 61 thousand 400 managed to pay the required 400 kwacha.And Kawambwa Central area Member of Parliament Nickson Chilangwa said the healthy maize crops in the fields is testimony enough to prove that the farming inputs were delivered on time.Mr Chilangwa, who is also Luapula province minister, pointed out that the supplier engaged by Government, targeted beneficiaries who paid the 400 kwacha requirement .However, he said there is need to increase the number of beneficiaries so as to enhance agriculture activities in the district.
