Kanyama riot allegations: HH calls urgent press briefing

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema will tomorrow, Saturday at 10:00 hours respond to serious allegations by government linking him to the riots that sparked Kanyama today.

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo blamed Hichilema for the riots and alleged that the UPND were circulating videos and audio recordings to incite residents.

While the PF Secretariat said it was a few disgrantled UPND members that rioted in Kanyama today.

Hichilema has been prompted to call the press at his splash residence in the capital to respond to these allegations.

On 10th April 2017, a battalion of state security besieged Hichilema’s residence in the mid of the night arrested and charged him with treason, which saw him spend 127 days in prison. He was only saved by Commonwealth General Secretary who intervened.
