Kambwili: Iam Not Corrupt

PF ROAN member of parliament Chishimba Kambwili has said he is not corrupt and has accused government of using the Anti-Corruption Commission to intimidate him.

Kambwili, the Roan PF member of parliament and former information minister, has been summoned again by the ACC, but he hopes the Commission is now ready to take him to court after a year of summoning him.

He said he was not corrupt and hoped the ACC was ready to settle the matter that had been prolonged for a year.

“We are always ready for them but you know that these are questions of intimidation. Surely, the case at ACC is one year on the line…they keep on summoning me. I have told them that if they have any matter against me, let’s go to court the way Tayali has come to court so that matters are settled in court,”

Kambwili said. “We hope this time around, they will decide to go to court because we are ready for them. We are not as corrupt as they are.”

He further accused the government of using the ACC to malign and dent his character even when it was clear that they had no case against him. Kambwili urged the ACC to expedite their investigations and face him in court.

He said the witch-hunt being exhibited would not work as he was “clean, with no case to answer”.

“But I think they are trying to use the ACC to prolong the investigations that are not there so that they keep on mudslinging on my persona and character by saying there are matters pending with the ACC,”

said Kambwili.

Soon after his dismissal by President Edgar Lungu in 2016, Kambwili was reported to the ACC for alleged corruption and abuse of office.

Despite his summoning on two occasions, Kambwili has maintained a critical stance against President Lungu and his government, calling the head of state corrupt, and challenged him to disclose the source of wealth gained within the short time of his being in power.
