KAMBA CALLS ON ELECTORATE TO TURN OUT IN NUMBERS

By Michael Kaumba

The ruling Patriotic Front in Lusaka Province has urged the electorate in the Province, especially in Kanyama constituency to turn up in numbers to vote and shame those perpetrating political violence.

Lusaka province Chairperson Kennedy Kamba says the voters in the province should not be intimidated by the recent spate of political violence orchestrated by the UPND but instead vote in large numbers.

Mr. Kamba says President Edgar Lungu has ensured that there is enough security personnel to maintain peace and deal with law breakers during and after the August 12 general election.

He says it is clear that the opposition have no message for the electorate and have resorted to using violence to instill fear and panic in the minds of voters.

Mr. Kamba said this in Lusaka as the PF conducted door to door campaigns in Kanyama Constituency.

Kanyama constituency was recently a scene of political violence which saw opposition UPND members attack a PF camp resulting in the death of two PF cadres.

Police has since arrested scores of UPND cadres in connection with the incident while the Electoral Commission of Zambia has since suspended the opposition party from conducting campaigns in the area.
