BY WILSON MULINDA

Kafue Celtics Football club management says it is Championing the fight against COVID-19 by ensuring the safety of players and management through incentives for voluntary vaccination.

Kafue Celtics Director LEE KAWANU says the club is taking advantage of the free weekend to ensure all players and management staff that have volunteered to get vaccinated, should be able to receive the jab.

KAWANU says the club is not forcing anyone to get the vaccine, but is putting in place measures to provide for those that are willing.

He has told ZNBC news in an interview that the club is waiting for guidance by the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- on the way forward if vaccination certificates will be needed for players to step on the pitch.

Meanwhile, KAWANU disclosed that discussions with the Kafue City Council and the Zambia National Service -ZNS- on the possibility of the team acquiring rights to use Kosa stadium in Kafue for their home fixtures have stalled.

He said Kafue Celtics enjoys a good fan base when they play their encounters in Kafue where the team originates from.

KAWANU said with the way the team is performing in the super league, a return to Kafue would be ideal to add to the morale of playing in the super league for the first time.

He said management is hopeful of striking a deal that will see the team return to Kafue by the start of the second half of the season.
