KABWE TO GET MILITARY UNIVERSITY

Plans to turn the Military Training Establishment of Zambia -MILTEZ into a first military university in Kabwe have reached an advanced stage.
MILTEZ Commandant, Francis Kasempa announced the development saying strides to affiliate courses at all wings with the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority -TEVETA- are underway.
Brigadier General Kasempa said this during the MILTEZ Officers’ Annual Ball at Kohima Barracks in Kabwe in Central Province.
He said MILTEZ is tasked with the mammoth responsibility of training not only Zambia Army but also other defence wings and allied personnel hence the need to improve the course outline.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Kasempa said MILTEZ has ventured into various developmental projects such as poultry rearing, gardening, and aqua-culture among others in a bid to make the unit self-sustaining.
He however said despite all these added responsibilities, the military personnel will not divert from their major role of protecting the country.
