Kabwe Shuts Bars In Cholera-Prone Areas

Taonga Mulenga reports that the Kabwe Municipal Council has with immediate effect closed all bars and restaurants in 14 cholera-prone areas.

Assistant public relations manager Mumba Mafwenko said this was in order to protect the general public following the outbreak of cholera in the district.

“The areas are: Katondo, Makululu, Kawama, C-Gate, Kamakuti, Abdu and Nakoli. Other areas are: Shamabanse, Kamushanga, Makwati, Mukobeko, Waya, Kaputula and Natuseko,” Mafwenko stated. “Cholera is caused by poor hygiene conditions and public gatherings promote the spread of the disease, hence it is in the best interest of the public that the bars and restaurants are closed until further notice.”
