Kabuswe cautions against politicising black mountain ops

Joy Siatubi-Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE has cautioned stakeholders in Kitwe against politicizing operations at the ore-rich Black Mountain.

Mr. KABUSWE is however happy that operations at the Black Mountain have stabilized and running smoothly one month after mining activities resumed.

The minister told ZNBC News in Kitwe that Government is one hundred percent positive that operations at the Black Mountain will succeed.

Mr. KABUSWE emphasized that his office will always be open for dialogue on any pertinent issues affecting the community and various stakeholders.

And Kitwe District Commissioner LAWRENCE MWANZA said he is satisfied with ongoing operations at the slag dump site, saying there is no cause for worry.

Mr. MWANZA assured Stakeholders that works to rehabilitate Central Street and Chibuluma Road in Nkana West will start immediately the rainy season ends.

This is in the wake of concerns by residents around t Nkana West community that tipper trucks carrying chrome from the Black Mountain are causing a health hazard due to the dust along the roads.

Meanwhile, Black Mountain Consortium Spokesperson KANGWA KAMANDO has threatened to terminate the contract of any drivers who will be over speeding in the residential areas.

Mr. KAMANDO said the company running the trucks has been engaged to ensure that drivers do not drive recklessly to protect human life and public property.

EARLIER UPND Kitwe District Youth Chairman BOAS KAPATA advised leaders to be above politics.

Mr. KAPATA said the new dawn administration is determined to improve the lives of young people, hence giving them the 30 percent mining rights at the slag dump.
