JUDICIARY TO SUSPEND COURT PROCEEDINGS TO FIGHT COVID -19

By Chansa Kunda

The Judiciary will  suspend court proceedings for two days in four provinces to help the authorities fumigate the court premises against COVID -19.

This is from the 7th to 8th of January 2021.

Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Charles Kafunda says the fumigation and cleaning will be done at Court premises in Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Livingstone and Kabwe due to the escalating COVID-19 cases.

In a statement to ZNBC News, Mr Kafunda said this will help minimize the spread of the COVID-19 in anticipation of the opening of High Court Sessions and the re-opening of most law firms in the week beginning 11th January 2021.

Mr. Kafunda has since directed Legal Practitioners and Litigants with cases scheduled on 7th and 8th January 2021 to get in touch with the Marshals and Magistrates concerned to reschedule the cases.
