JOINT SECURITY TEAM ARRESTS 50 PEOPLE

Fifty people have been apprehended by a team of Defence and Security officers in Lusaka’s Matero Township for idle and disorderly conduct.Zambia Police spokesperson Esther Katongo says those arrested are unruly groupings arming themselves with offensive weapons and moving round communities on pretext of patrolling.Mrs. Katongo told ZNBC news that the same people end up harassing innocent citizens of which some have died in instant mob justice.And Mrs. Katongo has disclosed that three people have been killed by mobs in Lusaka as of today.She said police have also recorded two mob justice related deaths in Kabwe and Chiengi Districts.Mrs. Katongo has appealed to the public to restrain themselves from taking part in instant mob justice.She further said those that want to participate in neighborhood watch patrols should first get permission from the police.
