JOINT OPS RAID NOTORIOUS CHIBOLYA

June 22, 2019June 22, 20193By Patrick Mulenga-The Zambia Police, Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the Department of Immigration have apprehended 113 suspects during a joint operation conducted in Lusaka’s Chibolya compound.The joint operation dubbed Operation Chalo, which began around 03:00hrs was to disrupt illegal activities in Chibolya, following numerous complaints from the public.Out of the 113 persons apprehended,53 were for immigration related offences,33 for drug related offences,27 were for general crimes such as being found in possession of suspected stolen property.And speaking to Znbc after the operation, Drug Enforcement Commission public relations officer Theresa Katongo said the operation was successful and produced the targeted results.Ms Katongo said law enforcement agencies will not allow lawlessness to prevail in the country.She said similar operations were conducted in other parts of the country and culprits are in custody.She however warned would be offenders that operations are ongoing, and the law enforcement agencies are equal to the task to combat criminal activities across the country.Ms. Katongo says significant amount of different psychotropic and other banned substances were found, including cannabis, suspected cocaine, boxes of Benylin codeine and instruments used to administer drugs.
