Jimmy Mukeya returns as Asanovic names 21 member squad

Zambia national team coach Aljosa Asanovic has named a 21-member provisional squad for the upcoming 2023 AFCON Qualifiers against Ivory Coast and the Comoros Islands.

NAPSA Stars forward Jimmy Mukeya has returned to the squad. The former Zambia U-20 forward is among the players summoned for the camp.

ZESCO United striker Enock Sakala Jnr has also received a call up alongside regulars, Kelvin Kapumbu, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Spencer Sautu, Moses Phiri and Benedict Chepeshi.

Young defender Miguel Chaiwa is also among the players summoned according to a release letter by FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala availed to the ZamFoot Crew.

Surprisingly Green Eagles midfielder Hosea Silwimba who has been impressive for the Kawale Boys in the just ended Super League season misses out.

The team will enter camp on 17th May, 2022 the ZamFoot Crew understands.

The local Bullets will have been engaged on May 23rd in an international friendly match against India to be played in Qatar.

The team will then move camp to West Africa where they will play friendly matches with West African sides before their first AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast.

The Copper Bullets were drawn in group H alongside hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Comoros and Lesotho for the qualifiers of the 34th edition of the international men’s football championship of Africa.

Aljosa Asanovic’s men will start their campaign with an away fixture against the 2015 Champions, Ivory Coast on June 4th.

The 2012 AFCON Champions will then host Comoros on June 14 before a back-to-back engagement with Lesotho at home on September 19 and in Maseru eight days later.
