International Monetary Fund (IMF) commences its visit to Zambia

FINANCE Minister Dr Bwalya Ng’andu says government has adopted a sequenced and prioritization approach in the implementation of developmental projects to ensure that there is no further debt-induced fiscal stress.
Speaking when he met a-five-member delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which paid a courtesy call on him in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Ng’andu said government is committed to stabilizing the macro-economic environment and achieve sustained economic growth.
Dr Ng’andu told the IMF team that Zambia is determined to sail over the tide of recent fiscal slippages to ensure these is attainment of the country’s developmental goals and objectives stipulated in the national budget, Economic Stabilization and Growth Programme as well as the 7th NDP.
According to a statement issued by Ministry of Finance Spokesperson Chileshe Kandeta, the IMF delegation headed by its Mission Chief DAN GURA is in the country to exchange information on the policies that the Government is undertaking in dealing with fiscal challenges, the public debt, and other macro-economic policy issues.
