Injury scare for Patson Daka….as Brighton score late to cancel out Daka’s opener

Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka scored the opening goal in Leicester City’s 1-1 draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Leading the Foxes attack, the in-form striker struck within the first two minutes of the second half to make it two goals in two consecutive Premier League matches (his 4th goal of the Premier League campaign).

A flowing team move gave Harvey Barnes the chance to shoot at goal, his attempt was parred by Sanchez in goal but Daka made no mistake from the rebound with his first shot of the game.

With time running out, the Brendan Rogers coached side defended deep. This swung the pendulum of the encounter in favour of the visitors who scored the leveller courtesy of substitute, Danny Welbeck’s crisp header from a Neal Maupay cross in the 82nd minute.

Unfortunately Leicester City’s late charge for a winner took a hit when they lost Daka to a knock as he limped off in added time.

The result sees Leicester City maintain tenth spot on the Premier League log table.

Former Leicester City and Northern Ireland international, Gerry Taggart was full of admiration of Daka’s performance this afternoon when he spoke on LCFC Radio.

Taggart remarked: “There were some good performances today. Thomas stuck to his task well and the two centre-backs did well today. James Maddison and Harvey Barnes did well at times, but if you’re talking about overall work rate and would always cause a problem in the opposition half, and he eventually got on the scoresheet, that’s Patson Daka

Daka’s compatriot, Enock Mwepu, who is on the books of Brighton missed this afternoon’s encounter owing to an injury lay-off.
