Former Ministers who illegally stayed in office after Parliament was dissolved have now written to Attorney General Likando Kalaluka to “revisit” the Constitutional Court’s ruling that ordered them to pay back all emoluments drawn from the treasury.

This is despite them and President Lungu promising to respect the Constitutional Court’s judgement when it was handed down in August.

Former Local Government Minister Stephen Kampyongo now says the former Ministers are “finding it difficult” to accept the Constitutional Court’s judgment hence the decision to engage the Attorney General to pursue the matter further.

Kampyongo said this in an interview with Hot FM News.

And former Information Minister, Chishimba Kambwili says it is “unacceptable” for people to continue suggesting that the former Ministers’ stay in office was illegal when they were “rendering a service” to the Zambian People.

Dr. Kambwili said he is ready to pay back the money but that he does not agree with the Constitutional Courts judgment.
