United Party for National Development (UPND) presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema this afternoon surprised Kitwe residents when he addressed a campaign rally in fluent and typical Bemba and declared that he now knows how to speak almost every language.

Hichilema, who in the past could hardly speak Bemba, addressed the crowd for almost 30 minutes without using another language.

Mwamona ati ndalanda ichibemba bwino, bale mibepa ba PF ati HH taishibane Chibemba. [You see that I can speak Bemba so well, PF lied to you that HH doesn’t know Bemba] he told a thousands of his supporters at Changamai grounds in Kitwe’s Kwacha East.

“Kuno ku Kitwe takwaba ama clinic. Nomba na mayo ngali pa bukulu, kuti aya shani ku chipatala ukwabula ama ambulance. Mwebena Kitwe voteleni UPND tukesa kontolola [Here in Kitwe, there are no clinics. Now what happens to preganat women, how can you access the clinics without ambulances. Vote for UPND, we shall control”]  he told the crowds.

Hichilema, who explained the party’s 10 point plan in Bemba, also warned Kitwe residents against voting for what he termed as smaller parties.

He pledged to lower the cost of living and end what he termed as the plunder of public resources by the current government.

He promised to lead a government that not only fights corruption and invests in the people through education, healthcare and water and sanitation, but also supports local business and empowers the youths for success.

He appealed for peace and unity and reminded the people that his party has a plan to protect the vote so they must turnout in numbers on August 11.

Earlier, UPND presidential running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known us GBM addressed another rally in Chingola’s Lulamba area.

“We shall reinstate all retrenched miners when we form government because our government will bring new and seriously minded investors who are not just interested in profits but also cares for Zambian.” Mwamba told Chingola residents before departing for Kitwe were with Hichilema, they addressed mammoth  rally.

And former Republican Vice President Guy Scott sent the rally in jubilation after he led them in vernacular campaign songs.

Speaking earlier Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) factional leader Dr Nevers Mumba said his faction choose to work with the UPND because its presidential candidate Hichilema is sober.
