HOCKEY TEAM QUALIFIES TO WORLD CUP

The Zambia Women’s Hockey national team has qualified to the 2024 Hockey fives World Cup to be held in Oman.

This is after the team beat Egypt 6-3 and Namibia beat South Africa 3-2 at the ongoing Africa Hockey fives world cup Qualifiers in Egypt.

Namibia’s upset over South Africa meant that Zambia qualified to the world Cup with a game to spare.

And Speaking to ZNBC Sports News, Zambia Women’s Hockey National team stand in Coach GODFREY LWANDO said it is gratifying that the team is the first among African participants to qualify to the world cup.

And Vice Captain MARTHA KALOMO said the results are paying off because the team commenced preparations early adding that same mechanism should be used for the World Cup.

Player BRENDA KALUNGA said qualifying to the world cup is a dream come true adding that the team wants to win gold in Egypt.
