Hoax message of HH declared winner sends Mazabuka Into Celebrations

A Hoax message that Hakainde Hichilema has been declared winner of the just ended general elections sent Mazabuka town into celebrations early hours of Thursday.

The message was generated by unknown person that the opposition UPND presidential candidate had been declared winner by the courts. It was circulated after midnight and by 03 people were in the streets celebrating.

A Mazabuka resident has told Zambian Eye that thousands of people danced and sung songs of victory matching through the streets.

The celebrations were only stopped by the riot Police who told the residents that there was no such a thing.

“There has been some noise here from 03:00 hours people are celebrating matching in the streets It’s like they have been told some good news that HH has won,” another Mazabuka resident told Zambian Eye.

Hichilema has petitioned the reelection of Edgar Lungu in the just ended general election. He has asked the Constitutional Court to reverse the declaration of Lungu as winner.

The main case has not even commenced in the court. The Constitutional Court is still looking at the preliminary applications brought before the petitioners.

The case is supposed to be concluded in 14 days effective this Monday when the matter commenced.
