Higher education board authority recovers K46m

By Patricia Banda-The Higher Eduction Loans and Scholarship Board has so far recovered over 46 Million Kwacha from beneficiaries.Higher Education Loans and Scholarship Board Chief Executive Officer Ireen Chirwa disclosed this to ZNBC News in Lusaka.Ms Chirwa says so far over 3- thousand first year students at Copperbelt University , UNZA and KAPASA MAKASA have been awarded loans.She is impressed that first year female students at UNZA have competed well with 54 point 8 percent accessing loans out of the One thousand five hundred students.And a check at the University of Zambia main campus found first year and returning students verifying their documents with loans board officials so that they could access the funds.Meanwhile, University of Zambia Students Union President Misheck Kakonde has thanked Government for its continued support to education in higher institutions of learning.
