President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has thanked the United States of America -USA- for making speedy decisions regarding the implementation of the Lobito Corridor Rail line project.

President HICHILEMA says the U.S Government is making fast decisions on the project that will help Zambia to open up and realise its plan as a regional hub of connectivity.

The President says the Lobito Rail line will connect the Atlantic and Indian Oceans from Angola via Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He says the project will enhance agriculture, tourism and mining as the Rail line passes in a belt endowed with minerals, water and good rainfall.

President HICHILEMA adds that such partnerships are what will help the country to create jobs for youths and opportunities for women, including the differently abled and caring for the aged.

The President said this at the State House when he met a team of U.S Senators led by Senator PATTY MURRAY who paid a courtesy call on him this morning.

And Senator MURRAY said she is hopeful that the Lobito Corridor investment will drive inclusive economic growth, strengthen sustainable supply chains which will broadly benefit the Zambia people.

Senator MURRAY also said the U.S will partner with Zambia in responding to challenges such as the drought which has hurt crops and food security.

She said the U.S will help to keep families safe by offering a strong response to threats.

She revealed that the United States has since 2000 invested over 7-billion U.S Dollars in Zambia’s public health, education and food security among other areas.

The delegation is visiting Southern African countries   including Malawi, Angola and Botswana to discuss investments in the region and ways to strengthen political, economic and security partnerships.
