HH Seeks Reversal of NRDC Sale

HAKAINDE Hichilema says ordinary Zambians need sustained protection from “thieving surrogates” in the PF government.

And Hichilema says he has instructed his lawyers to follow up the video clip showing President Edgar Lungu confessing that he was voted out of office but never moved out.

Meanwhile, Hichilema has directed the UPND secretariat to write agriculture permanent secretary Julius Shawa and the Ministry of Tourism to reverse the sale of the NRDC and Chichele Presidential Lodge in Eastern Province, respectively.

Addressing journalists after scores of PF and FDD members defected to join the UPND at the party secretariat in Lusaka yesterday, Hichilema expressed utter shock at the level of greed among leaders in the government.

“Let’s protect the people of Zambia from these surrogates of greed. I have never seen greedy people like these! [They have an] insatiable desire for 30 pieces of silver which they never knew before they went into government. Let us unite to protect Zambians from these thieves. Bring everybody to UPND because all this nonsense they are doing is because they know that we are divided,” Hichilema, who was accompanied by UPND party national chairman Mutale Nalumango, said.

He also called on the UPND structures at all levels to go out in the field and mobilise the party general membership.

“Let us receive warmly these people who have come to join the party. [But next time] let’s receive defectors right there in Kanyama. Chairman of the party, elections chairman, chair – mobilisation, youth, women, let’s be busy. There is nothing we are doing in this building (secretariat offices)! Let’s go out to the people,” Hichilema advised.

“Ine manta nilibe (I don’t have fear) and just check where I was born and how I grew up; we don’t know anything called fear. That’s why when I was in Mukobeko [President] Lungu sent someone to deliver a note to me that I [should] announce that I recognise him and that ‘this afternoon I will release you’. [But] I said I will rot [from] here – I will not recognise you! Andicenge ndekalombwana ndemuka Moonga (he should trick a gentleman like me from the Moonga clan!) No! We must know our rights.”
