HH says will deal with Kapyongo for attempting to bring down his helicopter

UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema has promised to deal with Stephen Kapyongo and the thugs he alleged hired to kill the the opposition entourage.

Heavily armed PF thugs on instructions from Kapyongo who is Local Government Minister attempted to bring down the helicopter carrying the UPND Hichilema and his entourage in Shiwang’andu on Monday.

The thugs burnt bushes, threw stones, Pangas and machetes targeting at the helicopter when it was approaching the ground.

They blocked the road heading to Chinsali making it difficult for Shiwang’andu residents to attend the UPND public rally.

The UPND entourage had to hold their meeting in the bush which PF cadres lit and the fire was quenched by UPND youths.

Armed Police officers had to move in to calm down the situation which almost turned blood.

Addressing residents, Hichilema requested a list of thugs with their sponsor Kapyongo whom he said will deal after winning the elections in August.

Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba warned Kapyongo that he will not allow him to stop citizens from exercising their rights to campaign.

During the Presidential by-election in 2015, Kapyongo allegedly hired thugs who attacked a helicopter carrying former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa and UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango.

The UPND says Kapyongo will face the law for attempted murder.
