HH MEETS MPEZENI

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has met with Paramount Chief MPEZENI of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province.

The President assured Chief MPEZENI of his commitment to unite the country.

He said traditional ceremonies like Ncwala which takes place today are key in promoting national unity.

President HICHILEMA said he was delighted to grace the Ncwala trafitional ceremony and prayed that everything goes on well.

He also thanked Chief MPEZENI for the warm reception.

The President was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Chief MPEZENI at Laweni ahead of the ceremony.

And Chief MPEZENI expressed happiness with the President’s presence at the ceremony.

He also assured him of his support.

President HICHILEMA has since proceeded to Mtenguleni, venue for the traditional ceremony.

Hundreds of Ngoni warriors known as Impis have lined up outside Laweni, the resting place for the Chief awaiting commencement of the procession to Mtenguleni.

Thousands of people have turned up for the event which was not held last year because of Covid-19.

Chiefs from across Zambia and neighbouring countries like Malawi and Mozambique have are also in attendance.
