HH MEETS CB UNIONIST,SUPPLIERS,CONTRACTORS

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says government will work with mine unions, suppliers and contractors in addressing challenges affecting the mining sector on the Copperbelt.

President HICHILEMA says the challenges are a huge concern for everyone.

The President says the health of the economy on the Copperbelt concerns the country because it is the backbone of the Zambian economy.

President HICHILEMA was speaking when he met mine unions, suppliers and contractors before engaging them into a closed door meeting at Kabelenga Presidential Lodge in NDOLA last evening.

The President said government is working to ensure that issues affecting the mines on the Copperbelt are addressed.

Mr. HICHILEMA said government is focused on improving the lives of citizens and addressing challenges in the mines is one of them.

And Mine Unions, Contractors and Suppliers on the Copperbelt have pledged to work with government in helping to address the challenges surrounding the mining sector.

Mine Workers Union of Zambia -MUZ- President Joseph CHEWE appealed to government not to leave out the unions when negotiating issues affecting the mines.

And National Union of Miners and Allied Workers -NUMAW- President SAUL SIMUJIIKA expressed hope that the issues surrounding the mines on the Copperbelt will be addressed soon.

Meanwhile a representative for the Suppliers BWALYA MUKONKA said meeting with the head of state has given them confidence that the challenges will be addressed.
