HH : FOOD SECURITY KEY TO SECURITY

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says food security is key to national, regional and global security.

President HICHILEMA says this is because food insecurity leads to instability at both national and international levels.

The Head of State says this is why Government has prioritized improving food production, processing and export.

President HICHILEMA was speaking during a High Level session, at the ongoing EARTHNA SUMMIT organized by the Qatar Foundation in partnership with the Commonwealth in Doha, Qatar.

President HICHILEMA also called for embracing of traditional and indigenous farming methods, which he said can help to mitigate the negative impact of climate change.

And speaking at the same event, Commonwealth Secretary General, PATRICIA SCOTLAND said agriculture technology advancement must embrace indigenous farming methods.

Ms. SCOTLAND further said there is need for concerted efforts to fighting food insecurity, which is threatening human life across the globe.
