By Lukundo Nankamba

As Zambia continues to see a daily escalation in Covid-19 cases, it is expected that health workers double their efforts to ensure people easily access testing facilities without hurdles.

However, a check at Kalingalinga Clinic by a Phoenix News Crew in Lusaka that went for covid-19 testing has revealed that health personnel in charge of testing members of the public to test for Covid-19 are charging the public for quick results.

The news crew has discovered that mandatory testing for covid-19 is being charged between K250 to K1800 through some medical personnel who were being recorded without their knowledge.

And members of the public who had gone for testing expressed displeasure with the conduct of the health personnel at the clinic for making them pay for a service that is supposed to be free of charge.

They have wondered how the fight against the deadly pandemic will be won when health personnel who should save lives and offer help are in the forefront championing corruption amidst a critical time the country is in.
