Handball Association to Proposal Sports Levy on Betting

The Handball Association of Zambia-HAZ says it will submit a proposal for the Government to introduce a Sports levy in the 2025 National budget.

Association President, BWALYA BANDA says introduction of a sports levy will help raise financial resources to support the Sports Federation.

BANDA says the Association is proposing that the government introduces a sports levy on betting companies and channel the money towards funding sports development in the country.

He says the resource to be raised from the sports levy will go a long way in reducing pressure that the Ministry of Sports is currently facing to fund various national teams during international competitions.

BANDA added that introduction of a Sports Levy will also help sports Federations to undertake talent identification, as there will be resources available for such activities.
