HAMUKALE ON CLIMATE CHANGE

By Moombe Hamoboola:Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale says there is urgent need for Zambia to invest in the development of computer software and research that will promote smart agriculture in the wake of climate change.Dr. Hamukale has observed that climate change is the biggest challenge the Southern Province in particular and Zambia generally face.He says the Southern Province experienced a decline of 82 per cent in maize harvest in the 2018 2019 farming season due to climate change.And Speaking at the same event, World Wide Fund for Nature Deputy Country Director Norman Rigava said ninety per cent of people in the Southern Province depend on agriculture for their livelihoods.Mr. Rigava urged the government of Zambia to invest in Climate Smart Agriculture especially in drought-prone areas Post Views: 11
