HAIMBE seeks a digitised judicial administration

By Sharon Siame

Justice Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE has called for digitisation in the administration of justice in the country.

Mr. HAIMBE says the Justice system has continued to operate in the same way as was done in the colonial days while the Executive Branch and State Institutions are doing well in digitizing.

He says there is need to shorten the turnaround time for the implementation of innovative digital platforms in the Judiciary.

Mr. HAIMBE says the Judiciary’s advisory committee on information technology is working with Smart Zambia and the Ministry of Justice to actualize the deployment of digital platforms on the working systems of the Judiciary.

This was in a speech read on his behalf by Solicitor General MARSHAL MUCHENDE during a workshop on electronic legal commission organised by the Ministry of Justice and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation held at Ciela Resort in Chongwe

And Deputy Head of Section Africa at the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation SONYA OUERTANI said the electronic legal communication is an important instrument for effective, transparent and secure collaboration among actors in the Justice sector.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Justice Permanent Secretary Legal MWENYA BWALYA said the initiative is a result of a twinning Cooperation between Zambia and Germany in areas of legal and Judicial reforms.
