Guard water sources – VEEP

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has called for protection of water sources in the country.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says Government is concerned with the environmental encroachment on water catchment areas which may affect availability of the commodity.

Speaking during the National Networking Breakfast Meeting in Lusaka, Mrs. NALUMANGO explained that depletion of water sources would impact on food production and power generation.

And Agriculture Minister REUBEN MTOLO said water remains critical to food production across the country.

Meanwhile UN Country Representative SUZE-PERCY FILIPPINI also appealed to all countries to protect their water sources.

And European Union Counselor -Troika Chair for Agriculture Fisheries and Livestock MATTHIAS REUSING said the current situation is threatening the global water system and food production.
