Govt to pen deal for Lusaka Ndola Carriageway works

Government has concluded negotiations with a private investor to undertake works on the Lusaka Ndola dual carriageway.

Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister CHARLES MILUPI says government is within a week expected to sign off for works to commence.

Mr. MILUPI however says government still owes about 10.3 billion kwacha to contractors for civil works, routine maintenance and consultancy services.

The Minister spoke when he featured on Government Forum Programme on ZNBC TV1 in Lusaka.

He said in order to deal with debt, government has held negotiations with creditor countries and entities and is looking at other ways to finance infrastructure such as through Public Private Partnerships – PPPs.

Mr. MILUPI said  through a PPP MODEL, the rehabilitation of the Chingola Chililabombwe Kasumbalesa Road works has also commenced.
